Example Pictures

I have found this picture of a child working, as an idea for the picture i will be taking for my school magazine. I particularly like the colours in this photo which are all soft pastel colours; they make the photo look bright. The background is blurred which effectively makes the boy the main focus of the picture. The child's pose is natural and shows him working with a concentrated expression on his face, which I will consider making the model do in the photograph I take.
This photograph consits of orange and red colours, making the image bright and positive shows the one child as the single focus. Once again, the background and other figures in the picture are blurred which effectively emphasizes the girl as the key focus. The child looks happy but the pose is natural and not forced which (if used on a magazine front cover) would help to convey a positive view of the school. I will use this to help create my own photograph which will show a naturally happy girl at school. In addition, this photo shows most of the girls face, rather than pictures which are taken of the child working, which do not. I think this is better as the reader can see the childs expression and therefore how they feel towards the school.
This photograph shows a child working, similar to the first example. However, I do not like the colour scheme in this as it consists of greens and browns which does not convey a happy, positive environment. However, the picture is very clear and uses the same technique of blurring the background figures. The girl looks slightly bored which does not create a good image of the school, so when i take my own photograph i will assure the model looks happy.

I like all of these images but my own photograph for my magazine will be of a teenage girl, as my school is a secondary school. However, i will use the research above to help achieve a great photo; this will include looking at the colour schemes and backgrounds.

Futher Research

This picture shows a girl sitting outside in the grass. It links to the previous pictures in several ways: she is reading a book, the background is out of focus making her the most obvious part of the picture and the colours are light, pastels. However, this picture is more appropriate for my magazine research as it is set outside, where I intend to take mine. This also gives the picture natural light, so there are no shadows surrounding the model.

This picture is relevant to my research as the model is holding a guitar and is outdoors which my model will also be doing. The guitar and grass are similar colours and give the picture a sandy colour scheme. The plain background keeps the model as the main focus of the picture, however parts of him have been cut out by the photographer, so he is in the bottom left hand corner of the photograph rather than the centre.
